Who We Are

Renaissance Neighborhood Development Corporation (RNDC) is a collaboration between Volunteers of America National Service and Volunteers of America Greater New Orleans to create 1,000 units of housing in Post-Katrina New Orleans.  We are committed to providing workforce housing which serves working households in key service sectors.  We are working in emerging urban neighborhoods to create developments that are proximate to jobs and employment opportunities, have good access to basic commercial services are are well-served by public transportation.

Elysian Courtyards of Gentilly

Elysian Courtyards of Gentilly (formerly known as Chateau Carre) consists of 150 one and two-bedroom apartments in two buildings on a full block site in the Gentilly neighborhood.  Originally built in 1964, this brick building was damaged during hurricane Katrina.  Immediately after the storm, it was gutted, remediated and provided with a new roof to preserve its integrity.  The interiors of this development have been completely rebuilt, offering new apartments at a development cost that is significantly less than the cost of new development.

The Terraces

The Terraces is a newly constructed 200 Unit Senior Housing Development with a 3000 SF Community Center and Health Clinic, and is located at 3615 Tulane Avenue. This is a replacement of a development located in New Orleans East that was rendered inoperable by Hurricane Katrina. All apartments are one-bedroom units, and  provide housing for senior residents, age 62 and older, with incomes at or below 50% of Area Median Income.

The Groves at Mile Branch Creek

Renaissance Neighborhood Development Corporation (RNDC) has initiated a new development in central Covington, Louisiana. New Covington / The Groves at Mile Branch Creek is a planned community on a previously undeveloped site that will provide 94 mixed-income rental units and 35 single family homes for purchase by first-time homebuyers.

1770 Tchoupitoulas

Renaissance Neighborhood Development Corporation (RNDC) acquired 1770 Tchoupitoulas for the development of up to 240 mixed-income rental units in a structure overlooking the Mississippi River.  This development would provide high quality housing for persons working in New Orleans’ office support, restaurant and hospitality industries located in the central core.  The project could also provide some related commercial space on the site.
