The Terraces is a newly constructed 200 Unit Senior Housing Development with a 3000 SF Community Center and Health Clinic, and will be located at 3615 Tulane Avenue. This is a replacement of a development located in New Orleans East that was rendered inoperable by Hurricane Katrina. All apartments are one-bedroom units, and provide housing for senior residents, age 62 and older, with incomes at or below 50% of Area Median Income.
Description:
The 67,000 SF site is located between Jefferson Davis Parkway and Carrollton Avenue on Tulane Avenue. The location offers excellent access to public transit, medical care services, and basic commercial services. Two other major tax credit developments are now under construction within six blocks of the subject site. There is also a neighborhood park, Comisky Park, located two blocks east of the site, however the reopening of this park is uncertain. The City of New Orleans Office of Recovery and Development Administration (ORDA) has identified the Tulane and Jefferson Davis intersection as one of its 17 targeted zones for public investment.
Status:
Construction was completed at the end of January 2010. Residents began moving in to their new homes in February.
